Lisa Atterbury was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta and graduated from NAIT college in 2003 with her Interior Design Diploma. Lisa's passion for art is deeply rooted, beginning with pencil drawings at the early age of five. During her art history class at NAIT, she was introduced to pointillism and completely fell in love with the art form. Her first project was of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and since then, she has worked hard to perfect and give her personal touch to each and every one of her pieces.
Pointillism is an art form that is defined by an image made entirely of dots. Lisa’s style of pointillism is uniquely known for her use of black posca markers and each project ranging from 30 - 100 hours to create. Beginning with a pencil outline and finishing with a protectant spray to ensure all pieces remain authentic and are easy to keep clean.
With this, Lisa only creates hand-made pieces to ensure that each piece is unique.
Lisa finds the process of pointillism relaxing and therapeutic, no matter how many hours it takes to create a piece. Her favourite time of day to work on artwork is at night, when the world is calm and quiet.
To date, she has created several pieces of loved musicians and movies and is excited to explore and expand deeper into other content with her future showcases and commission pieces.
